GYHA wins 2015 Grow the Game Award by Total Hockey!
The East Side’s local hockey fans have united in a BIG way to help grow the sport of hockey! Led by the efforts of Geauga Youth Hockey Association… and with the tremendous help of The Pond Staff, The Lake Erie Monsters, and our five high school hockey teams from Aurora, Chagrin Falls, Kenston, Orange, and University School…. We have not only come together over the past two years and been rewarded by our efforts in getting over 200 children introduced to hockey, but on Wednesday, June 3rd at USA Hockey’s National Congress in Colorado Springs, CO, our collective efforts to ‘Grow the Game’ of hockey was awarded 3rd place nationally by Total Hockey! We will receive 10 sets of youth hockey gear which will be put towards our existing low-cost rental program run by The Pond. We want to say THANK YOU to all of you that played a part in volunteering your time, equipment, marketing, and coaching to help make this award possible. Your efforts will continue to help our children get the experience of the greatest game on ice!
GYHA Mite Welcome Session and Placements Process 2015-2016
Dear Mite Parents -
GYHA wanted to reach out to you to clarify our plans for the upcoming Geauga Hockey "Welcome Session" and ongoing "placement" process for Mites for 2015-16 season.
The April 20th session will be a "Welcome to Geauga Hockey" like last year. During that session we will run skills/drills and also scrimmage like a higher level group tryout but mainly in order to allow parents to see how there kid(s) would fit in with the Geauga Mites. At that session, we will explain our expectation of what level of skating/hockey skill we expect new players to be able to demonstrate to be a Mite at Geauga - which is focused mainly on skating skills,.
This will also offer us an opportunity to deliver information on summer Pond Hockey programs to help players with those skills in preparation for the true "placement" sessions that will take place throughout August and September.
If you have any questions, please contact Paul Chase (email@example.com) or Chris Murphy (firstname.lastname@example.org)
