I just wanted to shoot out a quick email about what options are available this summer with the Ohio Hockey Project. If you could please take the time to forward our information to your team it would be greatly appreciated. The new website went live last week and spots are already filling up quickly. We will be making an official press release to the Cleveland hockey community later next week, but I wanted to make sure your families were taken care of, should they be interested. We anticipate selling out of our camps & leagues again this year, so please book quickly to reserve your spot!
• Youth Development Leagues for Peewees and Squirts. These Development Leagues are located conveniently on each side of the city (Winterhurst & Gilmour). We combine high intensity weekly skill sessions with an alternating schedule of OHP coached games. This takes place throughout an 8-week period.
• Goaltending Training Camps will add a very technical dimension for the goaltenders of the Project.
• Mite/Squirt/Peewee/BantamTraining Camps are week-long and are the real deal. This total hockey experience combines, high quality coaching, committed skill development, off-ice performance training, and valuable off-ice life enhancement sessions where we focus on nutrition, injury prevention, goal setting, and self-marketing for our elder players.
• Midget Minor/“JV” Development League will be the perfect springboard for the 8th, 9th, or 10th grader preparing to make the jump to Midget or Varsity level hockey! This 8-week long program meets once a week and combines high intensity team-based practices, OHP coached games, and performance training!
• Female Training Group. Don’t worry ladies, we haven’t forgotten about you! This Saturday morning training group will meet once per week where we will have a heavy emphasis on individualized skill development, with off-ice performance training weekly.

A huge shout out to our PeeWee 2's for there win at the Cleveland Heights Robinson Memorial Tournament a few weekends ago!! We understand it was a hard fought battle in which they won with exemplary sportsmanship and composure.
GYHA is proud of the way our players, coaches and parents represented the organization, both on and off the ice.
Geauga Girls Shine at Cleveland Girls Winter Classic!
We are proud to announce that our own Geauga Girls hockey players-Molly Lowe, Sarah Vince, Peyton Raypholtz and Isabelle Aerni represented well at the recent Cleveland Girls Winter Classic!
From a field of 60 players and 10 teams all the Geauga girls made it to the championship game. Molly, Peyton, and Izzy happened to be placed on the same team while Sarah competed against them playing with other Cleveland area players. Sarah's team ended up winning the championship trophy after an exciting OT and shoot-out!
The outdoor 3-on-3 cross-ice tournament was conceived and spearheaded by Cleveland Native and women's hockey success story, Seanna Conway. Seanna organized the event as a celebration of the love of hockey in general with an emphasis on girls hockey in Cleveland as an opportunity for our Cleveland area girls players to come and enjoy the day. Seanna is currently a coach for the Ohio Flames who has Division 1 College and International Hockey experience including time between the pipes for the Irish National team.
The Classic took place on Sunday 1/11/15 at the historic outdoor Halloran Ice Rink located on West 117th street in Cleveland's west-side neighborhood. On hand were Cleveland area girl hockey players who play for various teams including the Ohio Flames Tier 1 U14 and U16's, Cleveland Baron's Tier 1 U-12's, Pittsburgh Elite U14's and U16's, Gilmour Girls U14 Tier 2, and many who may or may not still play from our local Cleveland Suburban Hockey League teams including our own Geauga Maple-Leafs!!
In case you didn't know....on top of our GYHA player skills sessions withRuss Sinkewich and The Ohio Hockey Project, we have also been holding special Goalie Skills Clinics over the 2014-15 year. These sessions have been a great success and we've really created a "goalie family" by bringing our goalies together for specialized practices.
It is very important to give our goalies specific goalie skills instruction, individually and as a group, while also having their team coaches present to help reinforce those lessons in team practices and games. It is also essential to give players who want to try the goalie position a venue to learn the basics in a solid learning environment and our clinics help create that opportunity. We have many sets of goalie equipment that have been donated throughout the years and therefore GYHA can equip most any goalie at any age!! Thank you to our members, past and present, who have donated.
All of our skills clinics were in response to the GYHA end-of-year survey sent to our membership after the 2013-14 season. We have always had skills sessions but it was obvious our membership wanted more. This year we have actively sought to formalize these and will continue evolve the Geauga's skills programs going forward to give our players as much of an opportunity to hone specific skills outside of normal practice times.
Thank you to Adam Snyder, our Squirt 2 Head Coach and former University School goalie for his hard work helping and as well, we thank Paul Chase, our Mite Blue Head coach and current St. Ignatius goalie coach for his help. Of course, since we request all of our coaches to be available to participate, we thank them for their extra time!
